SK ON ELECTRIC CARS

Electric cars actually date back to the 1800s, but many people think they are a relatively recent invention. Hungarian and American innovators began experimenting with small-scale electric cars between 1828 and 1835.

The first primitive electric vehicle was developed by a young inventor, Robert Anderson, in 1832; however, it was not until the 1870s that it became ‘drivable’ and capable of carrying passengers from A to B.

More than 60 years after its first invention, the electric vehicle began to gain popularity. New models became easy to drive and no longer polluted the environment with unpleasant smelling pollutants.

They were particularly popular among women who wanted a stylish vehicle for travelling around town. By the next century, electric cars were thought to account for a quarter of all vehicles on the road!
