SK On Hungary and SK Battery Manufacturing launched a joint noise reduction project in Komárom at the end of 2021.
Construction started in December 2021 and finished in April 2023. The aim was to meet the legal limits, minimising our environmental noise impact. The plan approved by the environmental authority includes a series of organisational and technical measures for the two factories. The noise reduction measures were carried out in several phases, with the first being organisational measures to reduce our noise emissions.
Noise pollution from SKOH Utility Building – where steam boilers and compressors are located is ensured by keeping the northeast gate of the building closed at all times except for the use of the gate. The movement of materials within the factory during the night period has been reviewed by the logistics department at both sites, with traffic and loading reorganised for the day period only. For both companies, the sources of outdoor noise are very similar, and technical measures had to be implemented for the following equipment:
The technical measures have been defined by a noise expert and designer. In this plan, he has worked out precisely where the noise protection panel should be installed, with what sound absorption capacity and at what distance from the noise source. Even the structural design and the quality of the materials to be used were specified. Noise barriers and screens were installed to reduce noise exposure to the equipment in the table.
The project was completed with an accredited noise measurement carried out by a noise measurement laboratory in May 2023 during day and night time. The result was rated “passed” for both factories and the environmental authority accepted the final documentation and report.
